Summer Sports Coordinator - Andover YMCA

The salary range for this position is at $15.51 -$20.69. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary.

1. Job Summary:

The Summer Sports Coordinator assists in the daily direction and management of the sports camp which may include organizing, delivering and administering sports lessons, recreation programs and activities targeted toward youth at the assigned branch. The incumbent may give work direction to sports staff. This seasonal role (June – August) is 40 hours a week. With short trainings happening periodically during the spring months.

2. Essential Functions:

• Assists in the implementation of sports programs which may include organizing, delivering and administering sports leagues, recreation programs and activities.
• Ensures a high level of customer service which enhances the member, program participant and guest experience and satisfaction.
• Assists in managing the day to day programing to ensure revenue, program goals, and expense targets are achieved.
• Delivers sports programs directly to members and participants a portion of the time.
• Provides work direction to sports staff when appropriate.
• May assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training and giving work direction to staff and volunteers.

3. Relationships:

This position reports to the Sports Director/Sr. Sports Director who reports to the Executive Director. The incumbent works with branch and sports program teams, and other Association staff.

4. Qualifications:

Required

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in sports programs
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage sports recreation program activities.
• Knowledge of rules in sports recreation program activities.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Creative thinker with a history of applying innovation in programming.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build community relationships.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel..
• Ability to manage programs to a diverse population.

Preferred

• Multi Lingual

6. Physical Demands:

• Must be able to actively participate in youth games/activities.
• Ability to travel locally to YMCA branches and other program sites.
