Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. Under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator, this position will be responsible for assisting the Camp Coordinator in implementing programs, scheduling activities, organizing events and managing staff.
- Ensures that the American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed
- Supervises the Junior Counselors and the Counselors in Training (CITs)
- Coordinates all camp activities, camp information nights, and promotions
- Enforces all camp rules and policies, including safety and health policies
- Assists the Camp Coordinator in preparing cabin activities and cabin assignments
- Oversees the camp in process
- Greets campers and parents upon arrival
- Assists the Camp Coordinator with camper registration and camp store schedules
- Follows and enforces all safety and health policies
- Conducts cabin checks daily
- Meets weekly with staff
- Attends meetings and actively participates in camp activities.
- Is a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior.
- Assists the Camp Coordinator in developing and implementing uniform staff training and development
- Assists the Camp Coordinator with the coordination and maintenance of staff schedules
- Leads campfire, evening activities and supervises morning activities
- Has positive, open communication with staff and serves as a resource to them
- Completes end of season evaluation
