This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Cabin Leader will provide direct supervision to a group of youth campers. Responsible for the health, safety, welfare and personal well being of campers on a 24-hour basis. As a Cabin Leader you will promote and support the potential of all youth in programs and facilitate peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

Responsibilities
- Facilitate an engaging group living experience in an outdoor environment for campers while helping each camper meet the goals established by the camp for camper development
- Provide camper supervision within established policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines
- Actively plan to teach campers in areas of recreation, environmental studies, and social
- Responsible for monitoring camper eating habits, health, relationships, and hygiene
- Responsible for developing lesson plans for each week’s discovery units, cabin activities, social hour, ember discussions, and any other activity period assigned
- Alert maintenance personnel of repairs needed to equipment or facility to maintain proper working/operating conditions
- Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings
- Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties
- Evaluate current season and make suggestions for future season
- Play an active role in all camp activities
- Will work stay over weekends as assigned

- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required
- 18 years of age before the start of the summer season
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience with youth or family programming preferred
- Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants
- Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth, and should relate well to all age levels and backgrounds of people
- Facilitate community living with youth in a cabin or tent platform
- Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
- Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification
