Overview
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Music Program Lead / Cabin Lead will be responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the YMCA Camp Shady Brook’s Music program. You will also act as a cabin counselor providing direct supervision to a group of youth campers. As the Cabin Lead, you will be responsible for the health, safety, welfare, and personal well-being of campers on a 24-hour basis and promote and support the potential of all youth in programs and facilitate peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a creative Music program incorporating the YMCA’s values.
- Write and / or supervise all lesson plans for Music classes.
- Immediately report any safety, health, or equipment maintenance problems to the Associate Executive Director upon discovery.
- Maintain inventory of necessary equipment / supplies and inform Associate Executive Director of needed supplies in a timely fashion.
- Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings.
- Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties.
- Work as a cabin leader.
- Play an active role in all camp activities.
- Work stay over weekends as assigned.
- Evaluate the current season and make suggestions for future seasons.
- Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.
- Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
