Overview
The Lifeguard position is responsible for assisting the Head Lifeguard in the daily operation of Day Camp’s waterfronts, including the general safety and supervision of swimmers.

Responsibilities
- Provide instruction, supervision, and safety of all campers, staff and volunteers in waterfront area.
- Responsible for supervision on the waterfront during boating.
- Responsible for after camp swim lessons, as assigned.
- Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day which includes but is not limited to: Camper check-in and check-out; and meal times.
- Attend and participate in one weeks of General Staff Training.
Qualifications
- Lifeguarding experience required.
- The incumbent must be 16 years of age or older.
- Knowledge in the safety, skill instruction and ability to understand emergency procedures in a waterfront setting.
- Must show enthusiasm, dedication, responsibility and maturity and have the ability to interact and communicate clearly with campers, parents and staff.
- Possess current certifications in lifeguarding Waterfront Module and professional CPR and First Aid; Waterfront Safety Instruction preferred. Training will be provided.
If under 18, working papers are required and can be obtained at any high school’s main office. As part of New Jersey’s Department of Labor and Workforce Development, incumbent is required to take a half hour break every day.
