POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide direct supervision of children in a group setting. Provide a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Other department duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Safely supervise a group of children ages six weeks to nine years of age.
- Implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
- Maintain positive relationship with parents and other staff.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 18
- Previous experience working with children.
- Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
- First Aid, CPRPRO and AED within 90 days of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to verbally lead group activities.
- Adequate mobility, sight and hearing to effectively supervise program participants.
- Sufficient strength and agility to perform essential functions of position including the ability to lift a child who weighs approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform essential functions which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: standing; sitting; semi-to-full reaching overhead; crouching; kneeling; carrying; twisting of the waist, shoulders and legs.
HOURS:
Part Time: 20-25 hours available
PAY RATE:
$7.75-$8.25 DOE
