What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Executive Director of Youth Development-Durham YMCA position at YMCA OF THE TRIANGLE AREA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director and in cooperation with YMCA staff, the Associate Executive Director of Youth will provide vision, organize, manage and lead all youth programs supporting the branch. They will be responsible for managing such functions in accordance with the stated mission and polices established by the Board of Directors and administrative staff of the YMCA of the Triangle Area, Inc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides visionary leadership. Plans and directs, in conjunction with related staff, YMCA Youth programs serving all aspects of the YMCA community and ensures that those programs are managed so that they both fulfill the needs of the community and fulfill the purposes of the YMCA.
- Recruits and hires staff and volunteer teams and onboards and develops them for success.
- Inspires, trains, leads, directs, supports, evaluates, educates and coaches the branch youth department – modeling relational engagement and ensuring quality program delivery which includes our Commitment to Serve, innovation, staff development, teamwork and growth.
- Maintains a visible presence throughout all youth programs/facility/campus.
- Develops and facilitates growth in volunteer development for youth and family programs.
- Ensures all documentation/certificates/licenses/inspections/certifications are current and organized.
- Ensures compliance with state and local health codes and provide reports as required by program or health department guidelines/codes.
- Participates on Association IQ teams and committees as appropriate.
- As a member of the branch leadership team, responsible for actively seeking ways to contribute and support all branch initiatives operations, functions, special events, and community relations.
- Develop an annual budget in accordance with the budgetary guidelines of the association and manages that budget effectively.
- In conjunction with the Branch Executive Director and branch leadership team, responsible for all aspects of the Annual Campaign.
- Responsible for developing and appropriately leveraging relationships that result in new philanthropic support for the branch as well as YMCA of the Triangle.
- Actively participates on the Branch Advisory Board and interfaces with the branch community.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and/or 4-5 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in youth programming, program development and personnel development.
- Experienced and passionate about creating and fostering communities and relationship building through programs.
- Ability to effectively manage staff and programs.
- Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.
- Possess a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and possess the capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
- Requires a positive attitude, high level of initiative and professionalism, and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment.
- Demonstrate initiative, effectively prioritize, and possess strong organizational, analytical and project management skills.
- Capacity to assist in the management of facilities, equipment, and programs.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.

- Ability to obtain upon hire certifications in Basic Life Support, Basic First Aid, Emergency Oxygen and Emergency Medication Administration Training. All certifications must stay current while employed with the YMCA.
- A Commercial Driver’s License, with “P” endorsement must be obtained with-in the first year of employment in order to drive a YMCA bus as needed.
