What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kid Zone Coordinator Playhouse Northwest Cary YMCA position at YMCA OF THE TRIANGLE AREA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the leadership of the Program Director, the Kid Zone Care Coordinator is responsible for the management of the Kid Zone Care staff and for the administration of the Kid Zone Care program. They will provide leadership to the staff and a quality experience to children and parents through our YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
The Kid Zone Care Coordinator is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists to recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, reward and retain staff across multiple dimensions of diversity. Assists in onboarding staff and developing them for success
- Provides direct supervision of program daily responsibilities in morning, evening, and weekend programs. The Kid Zone Care Coordinator is required to work consistent shifts including evenings and weekends.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Conducts scheduling of staff, making sure that each area is adequately staffed according to branch and Kid Zone Care guidelines
- Assists Program Director in the organization of program reports in accordance with branch guidelines to include usage and staffing numbers
- Assists Program Director in leading regular staff meetings
- Communicates effectively with YMCA members regarding Kid Zone Care policies and procedures
- Assists to ensure all staff maintain required certifications
- Aids Program Director in planning, organizing, and producing written communication to staff and members
- Communicates all maintenance needs to the Director and provides follow-up on these needs
- Manages inventory and communicates needed supplies
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to dress code, medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or GED required with at least 2 years’ experience working with young children.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be professional, courteous and friendly, have a high level of initiative and be a self-starter.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must obtain certifications through the YMCA in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen (or equivalent) within first 30 days of hire.
