What are the responsibilities and job description for the Membership Engagement Specialist-Chatham Park YMCA position at YMCA OF THE TRIANGLE AREA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Associate Branch Director and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, the Membership Engagement Specialist will be responsible for opening/closing the building and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all members and staff. He/she will be responsible performing these duties in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA of the Triangle Area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Become an ambassador of the mission and cause of the YMCA that will help drive processes and procedures through our association framework to support a new member’s experience.
- Ensure facility is fully staffed and running smoothly.
- Be thoroughly trained in all aspects of the Crisis Management Plan.
- Open and close facility thoroughly.
- Be visible and accessible with radio at all times.
- Be knowledgeable of all applicable facility policies and procedures.
- Practice positive conflict resolution skills.
- Supervise, guide, motivate, and support staff.
- Communicate with directors when program, facility, or staff issues arise.
- Keep alarm code confidential.
- Always look and act professionally when in the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires that the incumbent be courteous, friendly, positive, enthusiastic and relate well to the public.
- They must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- They must have the ability to work early mornings and late evenings.
- Must obtain certifications through the YMCA in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen (or equivalent) within first 30 days of hire.
- This position requires the ability to promote the YMCA and its programs.
- They must be able to respond well in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to maintain an exceptional relationship with staff and members.
- The position requires an understanding of and commitment to the total effort of the YMCA and the Christian principles upon which it is founded.
