What are the responsibilities and job description for the Run Coordinator-Taylor Family YMCA position at YMCA OF THE TRIANGLE AREA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Sports Director, the Running Coordinator is responsible for the supervision, management, and assistance of the assigned YMCA sports programs as they specifically relate to skill development, managing events, etc.
The Cross Country/Running Coordinator is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
Job Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Prefer a person who can coach youth running/cross country and be willing to run with them.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Contributes to and supervise the fulfillment of the YMCA mission and serve as a positive role model, displaying YMCA core values at all times.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Provides feedback and communication to the Sports Director in regards to all areas of the program.
- Assists in the planning and implementation of program to include developing the training sessions, scheduling, and team-building.
- Displays confidence when interacting with parents, coaches, and participants.
- Demonstrates the ability to be intentional with developing the character of all participants and accomplishing the lessons “beyond the sport”.
- Serves as point person for trainings and events.
- Acts as staff member in charge when the Sports Director is not present.
- Ensures that any additional staff or volunteer coaches are performing to standards and expectations set forth; including assisting with training, coaching, and supervising.
- Ensures that sports facilities are ready for programs and is clean and left in great shape afterwards.
- Attends departmental and program meetings and events.
- Ensures all programs are safe, maintains the highest safety standards at all times.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or GED required with at least 2 years experience working with young children.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be professional, courteous and friendly, have a high level of initiative and be a self-starter.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Multi-lingual desired but not required.
