What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gym Attendant-Northwest Cary YMCA position at YMCA of the Triangle?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Healthy Living Director and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, the Court Attendant creates a warm and welcoming environment for our YMCA members and guests.
They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Check everyone who enters the Court for proof of membership or valid guest pass. Emphasize sportsmanship in the Court including, but not limited to, using appropriate language and actions towards others.
- Manage pick-up Basketball and Pickleball games in an organized and efficient manner.
- Sweep Court floors at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Survey floors every hour during shift for damage and to keep clean. Pick up all trash and debris.
- Keep basketballs inflated properly and on racks. Keep Pickleball equipment neat and organized.
- Run scoreboard and stats during league games.
- Set up Court for appropriate programming.
- Assist leadership in filling out incident reports for injuries.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be courteous and outgoing with a strong ability to intentionally engage diverse membership on the Court.
- Strong ability to connect with members and to connect members with each other is highly desired.
- Maintain a positive and outgoing attitude to assure that the members are top priority and ability to handle conflict resolution.
- Must obtain certifications through the YMCA in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen (or equivalent) within first 30 days of hire.
- Must have flexible hours to include evenings and weekends.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
