SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday: 6 - 8 a.m.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for expertise, leadership and resources needed to support maintenance of the branch and campus, its operational programs, and support of planned maintenance activities. They are responsible for minor repair projects, maintaining tool, fuel and maintenance supply inventory, working to ensure all maintenance requests are addressed appropriately and promptly. The position provides leadership and training of the maintenance and housekeeping teams, facility services vendor oversight, and coordination related to maintenance tasks, as required.
They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains a clean branch facility, including main building, out buildings, trails, ground, storage areas, vehicles, etc.; includes both interior and exterior.
- Serve as a leader to ensure facility is cleaned properly, projects are completed in a timely manner, and that a weekly and annual maintenance schedule is executed effectively.
- Ensures room setup for reserved rooms is carried out thoroughly and in a timely fashion.
- Advises supervisor of needed building repairs as observed while cleaning building and grounds.
- Supervises and coordinates all maintenance and branch/campus repairs. Survey campus multiple times daily and address needed/preventative repairs for safety and aesthetics, while reporting more in-depth requirements to the Facility Maintenance Director.
- Assumes direct responsibility for coordinating maintenance requests received via work order software.
- Assists supervisor wherever needed with communication and oversight required for contracted vendors performing work at the branch.
- Assists maintenance and housekeeping staff in keeping grounds clean, maintained and functional for all participants.
- Responsible for ordering and stocking supplies needed for maintaining facility readiness.
- Be available to work off-hour shifts to accommodate work that must be completed at night, oversee vendors as needed and/or support special events and seasonal activities.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, safe and well-stocked maintenance work area.
- Actively put the Mission of the YMCA into action through developing relationship with staff and members.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- High level of organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to read and follow oral and written directions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Positive attitude and enjoying working in a team-oriented environment is essential to success.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment and lawn maintenance equipment, and perform general maintenance on vehicles and general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and light carpentry.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.

- Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
- Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
- Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
- Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
- Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
- Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi β reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
