Seeking an individual with a passion for youth development to lead staff and act as a mentor, role model, and educator within the YMCA Beacons network, creating a fun and inclusive environment while planning lessons and leading group activities.
Specialized skills (e.g., dance, music, art, sports) are welcome but not required. This part-time role (15-20 hours / week) takes place after school hours, Monday-Thursday, $17 / hour, in school-based setting within Bruce Vento Elementary School.

The salary for this position starts at $17.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.
1. Job Summary :
YMCA Beacons School Success programs engage youth as leaders and learners by transforming schools into active youth centers afterschool and in the summer, providing free high quality educational, recreational, and leadership development activities opportunities to kindergarten-12th grade youth and their families at our 8 Beacons School Success Centers located in neighborhoods in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Richfield.
The Beacons School Success Lead Staff are mentors, role models, allies, and educators. Lead staff are responsible for developing, planning, and leading groups of youth after-school. This position operates at a specific Beacons School Success center. The incumbent provides quality enrichment experiences for youth that focus on the YMCA core values : honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
2. Essential Functions :
- Plan, develop and implement enrichment curriculum and program activities with a group of young people.
- Provide work direction to program staff and volunteers while on duty.
- Evaluate the program on a continuous basis and recommend needed changes to the Beacons School Success Sr. Coordinator and / or Program Director.
- Ensure that the center and classroom spaces are kept clean and organized.
- Perform administrative activities to support the program, including collecting daily attendance.
- Assist in the promotion of the program including recruiting young people to program, communication to families and school staff.
3. Relationships :
This position reports directly to the Sr. Coordinator or Program Director. The incumbent interacts with participants, parents, staff, school employees and the community.
