As a Youth Aquatics Coordinator, you will be responsible for creating a safe and enjoyable environment for our young members and guests. This includes developing and implementing aquatic programs, supervising staff, and ensuring the safe and enjoyable operation of our aquatic facilities. You will also be responsible for collaborating with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective aquatic operations team.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement aquatic programs for youth, such as swim lessons and water aerobics classes
* Supervise staff and ensure they are adequately trained and equipped to respond to emergencies
* Ensure the safe and enjoyable operation of aquatic facilities, including regular inspections and maintenance
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective aquatic operations team
Requirements
* Minimum age of 16
* Current nationally accredited lifeguard certification (applicable for body of water being guarded)
* Certification required within 45 days of hire: Oxygen Administration
* Physically perform all skills required of a camp lifeguard
* Ability to learn basic watercraft skills such as carrying and paddling
* Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere in the zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodations
* See and observe all sections of an assigned zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodations
* Demonstrated ability to recognize swimmers and paddlers in need of assistance
* Demonstrated ability to recognize, respond and remedy unsafe situations
* Ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers
* Ability to work with diverse populations and ages
* Dedicated to member safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA
