What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Center Monitor - Salem YMCA position at YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge?
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the teen center which is designed to provide a safe, fun environment for teens to gather and to provide programming that will promote the values and mission of the YMCA to area teenagers. Responsible for the development and implementation of teen programs. Responsible for the development of a Teen Leaders Club.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures the safety and guidance of teen room participants.
- Provides direct supervision of teens.
- Attends job related training and staff development meetings.
- Leads a variety of teen activities such as games, tournaments and programs.
- Serves as a positive role model to staff and teen participants.
- Responsible to develop and enforce teen center policies.
- Responsible for development and management of teen center budget.
- Supervises teen center staff.
- All other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand for periods up to 4 hours.
Participate in large motor activities.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Ability to observe participant activities in order to enforce safety regulations and policies and procedures.
Ability to interact in-group activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
18 years of age or older.
Experience working with teenagers in a group setting.
Experience developing and implementing group teen activities.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
