What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mini Explorers Camp Counselor - Holy Trinity Newburg position at YMCA of West Bend?
We are looking for a seasonal part time (up to 29 hour / week) Camp Counselor to work with our Mini Explorers Program!!
Mini Explorers provides a smaller setting for our youngest campers. Program participants are 4-5 years old! Our staff creates a positive and caring learning environment where children can make new friends, achieve new successes, and have their first camp experience. The program includes many camp traditions, such as camp circle, theme days, and more.
Monday through Friday, no weekends!
POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Child Care Director, the Teacher is responsible for supervising, planning, and implementing the daily activities for the Mini Explorers Summer Day Camp Child Care Program (Ages 4-5) at the Kettle Moraine YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Follows the DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers and the Kettle Moraine YMCA Child Care Policies.
- Implements age appropriate curriculum by developing lesson plans and activities that contribute to the growth and self esteem of the children.
- Supervises, mentors and coaches assistants and volunteers.
- Participates in conducting staff meetings, parent / teacher conferences, continuing education, center and community events.
- Maintains all required paperwork as designated by supervisor.
- Maintains a safe and orderly environment, including housekeeping duties.
- Interacts with children at their cognitive level and provides an enriching experience for participants.
- Problem solves issues, concerns, incidents and reports to supervisor with possible solutions.
- Greets and communicates with parents, keeps all interactions positive and is sensitive to the feelings of children and parents.
- Builds and maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, volunteers, other staff, and the communities we serve.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
