POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Director of Healthy Living, the Personal Trainer is responsible for providing Kettle Moraine YMCA members and community participants with a supportive, motivating and inspiring wellness experience through personal training, group fitness classes and a wide variety of wellness programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Works with members to establish realistic fitness goals based upon members abilities.
- Builds and maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, volunteers, other staff, and the communities we serve.
- Meets members and program participant needs by means of programs including but not limited to, personal training, floor coverage, LIVE STRONG at the YMCA, wellness coaching, YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program, Moving for Better Balance, group fitness, etc.
- Conducts wellness consultations and works with members to develop strategies to reach their health and fitness goals.
- Ensures members are using the equipment safely and are aware of and following the appropriate policies and procedures.
- Daily engagement with members and clients as well as daily upkeep of fitness areas (cleaning, towels, etc.).
- Ensures safety of all members, guests and staff within the guidelines of the Kettle Moraine YMCA and the Healthy Living Department.
- Creates fitness plans to fit client needs.
- Awareness of current fitness programs and trends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Hold current Y-USA approved Personal Training certification.
- One-year experience in the health and wellness field.
- The ability to relate to diverse groups of people.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an interest and ability in working with individuals of all fitness levels.
- Current CPR / AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to : bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, stand, lift up to 50lbs, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk and hear.
