POSITION SUMMARY
The Membership Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional and outstanding service and assistance to YMCA members and potential members through internal and external strategies. They assist with the overall operations of the Membership Department, including a heavy focus on direct member service, admin responsibilities, volunteer oversight, and program and membership growth strategies. They are responsible for the efficient scheduling, supervision, and training of Membership staff. The Membership Manager is a highly visible representative of the YMCA mission, theme, and character development values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for hiring, coaching, and mentoring all direct reports and ensuring alignment with the organization’s personnel policy and HR practices within their scope of responsibility through quarterly check-ins and annual reviews with the service line/department team
- This includes specific Human Resources functions including, but not limited to, hiring duties, payroll, and employee documentation, recognition, training, meetings, and evaluations.
- Implements a results-based management approach and ensures service line/department is actively working towards association-level objectives by assessing progress towards identified goals/KPIs, provides ongoing coaching and feedback, and discusses development opportunities
- Oversees the budgeting process within their service line/department, ensuring that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives
- Identifies growth opportunities, conducts forecasting regularly and corrects financial deficiencies on a timely basis through monthly variance reports with organizational leaders, and implements action plans to meet budgeted financial targets
- Ensure a culture of committed relationships and engagement that results in increased participation in the YMCA by members, community participants, and volunteers.
- Serve as the point of contact for all volunteer programming while working with leadership staff on the center’s needs and developing an annual calendar.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Professional experience in business or customer service required
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills and experience, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
- Maintain current certifications in CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, speak and hear clearly, complete required written forms, and lift at least 20 pounds.
NICE TO HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Y-USA Team Leader certification is preferred or completed upon employment.
