What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Specialty Coach - Baseball (Pitching)/Soccer position at YMCA San Antonio?
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Specialty sports coach oversees the activities, practices, and clinics of the sports program as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides one on one or group coaching sessions.
- Tracks daily attendance sheets.
- Keeps the courts or fields clear of equipment and puts equipment in proper storage place.
- Attends all staff meetings and training sessions when scheduled.
- Maintains a professional attitude at all times.
- Reports needed equipment repairs to Sports Director.
- Enforces all facility rules.
- Secures substitutes as necessary.
- Provides direct teaching leadership in a team teaching situation.
- Shares responsibility in interpreting and communicating child’s progress to parents.
- Follows all sports program curriculums.
- Follows all YMCA of Greater San Antonio policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- HS Diploma or GED is required.
- At least 18 years of age.
- One to three years’ experience as a coach
- Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen Certifications
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed in an outdoor and indoor recreation environment.
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper techniques.
- Visual acuity is necessary.
- Ability to respond properly to medical emergency is necessary.
- Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration.
