What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Financial Development position at YMCA?
The Director of Financial Development will play a pivotal role in advancing the Woodson YMCA’s mission and financial sustainability. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and executing strategies related to Annual Giving Campaigns, Grant Research and Development, Special Event Fundraisers and Planned Giving. As a key member of the leadership team, the Director of Financial Development will work closely with the CEO and Sr. Management team to drive the organizations development goals and ensure a diversified and sustainable funding base.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, with experience in annual giving, grant writing, event planning and planned giving.
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, community leaders and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in donor management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Annual Giving Campaign:
- Develop and implement comprehensive annual giving strategies to achieve fundraising goals.
- Create and manage campaign, including donor outreach, communications and stewardship plans.
- Monitor campaign performance and provide regular reports to leadership and the Board.
Grant Research and Development:
- Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations and government entities.
- Develop and write compelling grant proposals and reports in collaboration with program staff.
- Cultivate relationships with grant-making organizations to enhance funding opportunities.
Special Event Fundraisers:
- Help plan, coordinate, and execute special fundraising events to engage donors and increase community support.
- Oversee event logistics, budgeting, sponsorship acquisition, and volunteer coordination.
- Evaluate event outcomes and implement improvements for future events.
Planned Giving:
- Develop and promote a planned giving program to encourage long-term support of the Woodson YMCA.
- Educate and engage donors about planned giving options and benefits.
- Collaborate with financial advisors and estate planners to facilitate planned gifts.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team, contribute to strategic planning and organization goals.
