What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Healthy Living position at YMCA?
The Director of Healthy Living is flexible, enthusiastic, positive and committed to providing quality programming. This person leads the healthy living programs including oversight and the quality delivery of the fitness floor, group fitness classes, personal training, chronic disease and other healthy living initiatives as well as overseeing the Building Supervisors. The Director of Healthy Living will be responsible for developing new programs and ensuring that current offerings are high quality. The goal is to provide an exceptional experience for all who enter our building.
1. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
3. Certifications: CPR and First Aid.
4. YMCA Team Leader certificate within three years.
1. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers including but not limited to Fitness Monitors, Group Fitness Instructors, Building Supervisors, Chronic Disease staff and Personal Trainers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures that all staff trainings are current.
2. Directs and supervises department programs including group fitness, chronic disease programs, Engagement, personal training and other healthy living initiatives. Seeks innovative ways to implement current fitness and health trends in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
3. Responsible for the fitness floors and fitness equipment across the association.
4. Compiles wellness and program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of programs and participation in any program.
5. Collaborates with other directors and coordinators to ensure that member needs are met and all healthy living initiatives are implemented.
6. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations to potentially expand our presence in the county.
7. Develops and controls department budgets related to this position.
8. Assists with securing grants and is responsible for maintaining and fulfilling grant requirements for fitness-related grants.
9. Works with the Marketing Director to market fitness programs.
