Downtown - Housekeeping Staff

JOB DETAILS:

As an important member of our team, Housekeeping performs all day-to-day cleaning services needed to ensure a clean and attractive facility in accordance with all applicable YMCA standards. Your role will be to clean and sanitize assigned areas throughout the facility, including locker rooms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures the Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintain upkeep of assigned area and equipment in a timely manner
• Performs duties such as wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and other general cleaning
• Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment
• Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed
• Ensures the entire YMCA facility is secure during shift, and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies when needed
• May assist in the set up and take down of furniture for events
• May wash laundry
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Six months or more of related experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
• Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties
• Must be able to lift 25lbs
• Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol form
• Ability to clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed
• Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
• Must be detail oriented and exhibit a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to perform duties which may include: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
