What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group instructor position at YMCA?
Join our team as a Group Fitness Instructor and make a positive impact on people's lives! We offer a flexible schedule, and are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Group Fitness Instructors to teach one or multiple formats of our group exercise program.
We want instructors who are exceptional motivators and great relationship builders as a part of our member-centered environment.
As a Fitness instructor, you will deliver energizing and educational group classes that promote member wellness, safety, and engagement.
Responsibilities of a Group Fitness Instructor :
- Answer member questions and provide support to help them achieve their fitness goals
- Maintain a working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members
- Build effective and authentic relationships with members, helping them connect with each other and the YMCA
- Keep accurate class attendance records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Certification in area(s) of expertise
- At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred
- Required certifications : CPR, First Aid, AED required within 30 days of hire
- National certification (e.g. ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction
- New Employee Orientation required within first week of hire
Physical Demands :
- Ability to conduct classes and activities
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting
