Position Overview:
The Member Engagement Director is responsible for driving membership growth and retention while enhancing the overall wellness experience at the YMCA. This role involves overseeing membership services to ensure a positive, professional atmosphere that promotes health, community engagement, and member satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Membership Management:
- Develop and execute strategies for member recruitment, retention, and satisfaction.
- Create and maintain a member-focused culture, fostering relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
- Oversee membership registration processes, including phone, walk-in, and web-based systems, in coordination with marketing efforts.
Staff Management and Development:
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers.
- Evaluate staff performance, provide ongoing training, and implement strategies to motivate and achieve departmental goals.
Budget and Financial Oversight:
- Participate in budget planning and management.
- Monitor and manage budgets, making adjustments as needed to address variances and achieve financial targets.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure proper implementation and adherence to front desk procedures and business systems.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and upkeep for member spaces.
- Handle member complaints effectively, preserving dignity while reaching satisfactory solutions.
Community Engagement:
- Organize and participate in membership events at the YMCA and in the community.
- Build partnerships with community organizations to support health strategies and promote YMCA programs.
Data and Impact Measurement:
- Utilize data and feedback to drive improvements in membership programs.
- Measure program impact and effectiveness, making data-driven decisions to enhance member experiences.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Serve as a member of the branch management team, contributing to overall branch success.
- Attend leadership meetings, board meetings, and other required activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Science, Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in wellness programming, including staff management and budget oversight.
- Proven experience in membership management, including recruitment, retention, and customer service.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with business software and member management systems (e.g., Daxko Operations Software).
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Regular use of a computer and ability to communicate via phone and smart devices.
- Ability to move around the work environment and perform tasks such as lifting, kneeling, and climbing.
