What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Teen Director position at YMCA?
Under the supervision of the Association Teen Executive and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established policies and goals of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas, the Regional Teen Director will be responsible for collaborating with community partners and providing quality programming and a positive member and participant experience for teens. The Regional Teen Director will lead Teen programming and events across a region as well as support teen initiatives across the association. The Regional Teen Director ensures that their teams operate efficiently and employs a continuous improvement model to meet and/or exceed goals for member/participant satisfaction, financial management and overall growth. The Regional Teen Director functions as a member of the Teens Leadership Team and assigned Center(s) Leadership Teams by helping achieve the goals set forth in the strategic plan.
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred along with experience in youth development and teen work. Y-USA Team Leader Certification (or equivalent) required within two years and must begin working towards certification within 6 months.
2. Minimum two (2) years’ experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
3. Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing youth and teen programs. Experience managing multiple program locations preferred.
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.
6. Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with members, community partners, and others to achieve goals.
7. Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
8. Must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
9. Certification in CPR/ First Aid/AED/02 required within 60 days of hire.
10. Complete and maintain required trainings to include: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment.
11. Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.

3. Actively participates in association task forces, committees and/or other groups to promote center unity through association policies, strategies and goals.
4. Promotes and participates in YMCA fundraising efforts including Annual Campaign, Capital and United Way campaigns.
5. Responsible for Teen initiatives to include: Leaders Club, Youth and Government, Achievers, Youth Outdoor Leadership Academy, teen nights, and overall member retention, program growth and quality for all assigned centers.
6. Establishes and expands Teen and other program activities within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Ensures outstanding customer/member service through Association quality guidelines.
7. Recruits, hires, trains and builds strong staff and volunteer teams and ensures their success through an effective performance management/appraisal process.
8. Supports Teen Leadership Team to create and maintain meaningful and impactful relationships.
9. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
10. Develops, manages and monitors annual budget, making revisions as necessary to meet or exceed budget guidelines.
11. Prepares statistical, analytical and narrative reports regarding programs and operations of the centers as needed.
12. Responds to member and participant concerns in a timely manner, ensuring a positive program experience. Anticipates and exceeds expectations consistently throughout programs.
13. Participates in the development of new programming, strategies, training, and execution of organizational plans to achieve strategic plan targets for programming.
14. Ensures all Y Teen standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention. Ensures in-service training requirements are met and all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures and protocols are reported.
15. Ensures staff teams have systems in place to monitor staff member certifications and expirations.
16. Acts as a leader in emergency situations. Reports any accidents or incidents according to Emergency Communication Action Plan and follows mandated child abuse reporting requirements.
17. Ensures all members, guests, and program participants are in a safe environment and actively follow Center Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
18. Carries out other related duties as deemed necessary by the Center Executive Director and Center operations to ensure an excellent member experience.
