Position Overview:
The Summer Lunch Program Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of the YMCA’s Free Mobile Summer Food Program. This includes overseeing member donations, recruiting and managing volunteers, coordinating with site administrators, and organizing activities and resources to support food security for children in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management:
- Coordinate logistics for summer lunch program sites, including apartment complexes and neighborhood locations.
- Develop and implement games, activities, and educational programming for children at program sites.
- Manage the collection, organization, and distribution of donations from members and external partners.
- Volunteer Coordination:
- Recruit, onboard, train, and manage volunteers, ensuring roles are clearly defined and effectively executed.
- Maintain a schedule of volunteer activities and provide ongoing support during the program.
- Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with site administrators, ensuring smooth program operations.
- Collaborate with businesses, schools, churches, and community groups to secure additional programming, resources, or donations.
- Represent the YMCA in a professional and positive manner during all community interactions.
- Administrative Duties:
- Track and report on program progress, including participation data and donation metrics.
- Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures, including safety and risk management.
- Monitor program budget and expenses, making cost-effective decisions while maintaining program quality.
Supervisors and administrators will:
• Follow employee's and volunteers' screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
• Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.
• Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with children and teens.
• Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong belief in the YMCA’s mission and values.
- Proven organizational and project management skills.
- Experience working with volunteers or community programs preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Physical ability to lift and move supplies, set up program areas, and be on-site at various locations.
Work Environment:
