Job Summary:
The Wellness and Member Engagement Director is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and growth of wellness programs and member engagement initiatives. This role requires a passionate leader who will foster a positive, supportive environment, promote member retention, and ensure high-quality service delivery in our fitness and wellness offerings.
- AA or Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or a related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in wellness program management, member engagement, or fitness leadership, with a proven track record of success.
- Certification in fitness, personal training, or related wellness fields (e.g., ACSM, ACE, NASM, or similar) preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team and membership base.
- Experience in budgeting, financial management, and staff development.
- Passionate about promoting health, wellness, and community engagement.
- First Aid/CPR certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of wellness programs, including fitness classes, personal training, group exercises, and special wellness events.
- Develop, promote and oversee adult recreational sports programs.
- Manage and motivate wellness staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure exceptional program delivery and member experience.
- Develop and implement member engagement strategies to enhance participation, retention, and satisfaction across all wellness offerings.
- Build relationships with members to understand their needs, offer support, and create a welcoming environment that promotes inclusivity.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless experience for members, including coordination with youth, family, and community programs.
- Oversee the wellness department’s budget and financial goals, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting revenue targets.
- Stay up to date on the latest wellness trends, fitness programs, and best practices to continually improve offerings and provide innovative experiences.
- Develop and promote member events and initiatives that increase community involvement and engagement with YMCA services and community partners.
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, ensuring that wellness initiatives align with the YMCA’s overall mission and impact goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety, risk management, and regulatory standards in all wellness programs.
