The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to various funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This role requires excellent writing skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the Y’s mission and be dedicated to helping expand our capacity to serve. This position will have a direct impact on the organization’s ability to raise and renew contributed revenue in support of the strategic plan.

Experienced Grant Writer : Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred, with at least 3 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising and secure at least 7 figure grants.Proven Track Record : Demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.Exceptional Writing Skills : Ability to craft compelling narratives that inspire funding partners.Detail-Oriented : Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and high-quality work under deadlines.Research Savvy : Proficiency in identifying potential funding sources and understanding their requirements.Collaborative Mindset : Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues across the association.Mission-Focused : Passion for community service and commitment to the Y’s mission of enriching communities.Essential Functions
What You’ll Do as a Grant Writer at the Y :
Grant Research : Identify and research potential funding opportunities that align with the Y’s mission and community impact goals.Proposal Writing : Develop compelling grant proposals, including narratives, and required documents tailored to each funder’s priorities.Submission Management : Ensure timely and complete submission of grant applications.Reporting and Stewardship : Prepare and submit grant reports, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and fostering strong relationships with funders.Collaboration : Work closely with program staff to gather essential data and program details for proposals and reports.Funding Strategy : Contribute to developing and implementing a comprehensive grant strategy to increase financial support for the Y’s initiatives.Tracking and Documentation : Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, funding received, and reporting deadlines.Cause-Driven Leadership Competencies
