What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teller/New Accounts position at YNB?
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for handling a variety of teller tasks and assisting customers in opening new accounts which will best meet their banking needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Handles a variety of duties for customers including paying and receiving monies.
- Ensures customer satisfaction and reports any concerns to supervisor.
- Keeps accurate records of all transactions.
- Opens accounts for new and existing customers, assisting them in determining the account(s), which will best meet their professional needs.
- Completes data input and necessary forms for opening new accounts; routes forms.
- Ensures the bank’s services are carried out with a high degree of customer satisfaction.
- Keeps accurate records of all transactions.
- Assists customers with banking problems relating to new accounts.
- Reports any concerns and unresolved issues to supervisor.
- Maintains files for follow-up of new and closed accounts and documentation for business accounts.
- Processes printed check orders for customers.
- Expands customer base through selling and cross-selling techniques.
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise of basic teller functions and supports the Company’s overall mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- You may be required to go to another branch if required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other duties as required by management.
- May participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduation or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Strong proficiency in pc skills
- 6 months of professional cash handling experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Six months of bank teller experience and professional banking or new accounts experience

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills: able to work well with a wide range of people.
- Demonstrates dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.

- Strong sense of customer service.
- Some familiarity with cashiering equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is sedentary work that requires the following physical activities:
- Sitting or standing for long periods, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds of currency/coins).
