What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Trauma/Stroke Coordinator - Full-time position at Yoakum Community Hospital?
The Trauma/Stroke Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and monitoring Level IV Trauma designation and the Bioterrorism preparedness plan, as well as assists with the development and administration of the Hospital-wide disaster preparedness plan.
Participates in the Regional Area Council and Community activities pertaining to Emergency and Trauma services.
Responsible for drafting/updating and maintaining policies and procedures for area of responsibility.
Maintains written and verbal communication with the Quality Management Director regarding potential or actual problems or concerns in areas of responsibility and actively engages in problem solving.
Assures that all tasks in areas of responsibility are performed in compliance with appropriate State and Federal guidelines, rules, and regulations.
Plans, implements, and evaluates the Stroke Care Program. Provides education and development opportunities for staff and patients. Visits hospitalized stroke patients and informs them on how to manage their condition and rehabilitate. Provides literature with explanations of warnings of recurrence, medication review, and need for therapy.
Performs concurrent review and chart studies to develop database for trauma patient studies and develops and implements a quality improvement program to evaluate care for trauma patients.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse;
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice in the Emergency Department;
Current certification for CPR, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC;
CEN preferred;
Management experience preferred.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge and skill of professional nursing theory and practice, trauma care, and trauma systems, principles of teaching and learning, and research and quality assurance.
Effective interpersonal relationship skills.
Efficient critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as independent decision making ability.
