Classification: Salary - Exempt
Reports to: Department Manager
Summary/Objective:
Estimate industrial and commercial construction projects by ensuring full understanding of project requirements through communication with customers, sales team, equipment suppliers, and vendors. Incorporate value engineering practices through knowledge of quality and efficient construction practices.
Essential Functions:
I. Securing Production Work
· Accurately estimate construction projects to obtain work that will support yearly volume, with margins equal to or exceeding annual goals
· Stay current with available bid opportunities
· Understand each phase of the project and how work will be completed
· Find advantages over the competition and understand the risks of job being estimated
· Maintain a list of qualified vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers for each trade
· Develop and maintain positive customer relations
II. Estimating Construction Projects
· Make site visits, as required, to assess field conditions, and obtain measurements of existing conditions
· Produce an estimate based on the scope of work while utilizing value engineering practices
· Create professional proposals with clearly-defined scopes of work and exclusions
· Present proposals, in conjunction with the Business Development team, for client sales presentations
· Provide cost budget breakdowns to Project Manager prior to commencement of project
III. Project Coordination
· Communicate project budgets and customer requirements with Project Manager for project start-up
· Participate in project start-up meeting with Project Manager, General Superintendent, Fabrication
Manager, Foreman, Vice President (if available), and President (if available)
· Maintain communication with project team as needed during project life cycle.

Education and Experience
· High school diploma
· Eight (8) years construction estimating experience or four (4) year degree in engineering, construction management, or related field and four (4) years relevant experience
· Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
· Basic first aid training (preferred)
· OSHA 10-hour training (preferred)
· MSHA Part 46 training (preferred)
Must possess a valid drivers license, and be able to pass pre-employment screening including a drug test and background check, where applicable.
