Sports Turf Technician

The Sports Turf Technician will perform many agronomic jobs and projects on the golf course. The Sports Turf Technician will work in a team environment that requires strong attention to detail.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Operating various equipment used in all aspects of professional golf course operations, including but not limited to: walk-behind greens mowers, debris blowers, string trimmers, sod cutters, rough mowers, and walk-behind edger's
• Executing detailed tasks, including but not limited to: mowing straight lines, cleaning up weeds and debris, fine grading with shovels and rakes, etc.
• Documenting equipment issues and failures by filling out the proper documentation of a problem the same day the problem is observed
• Administering fluid levels for equipment throughout the shift: gasoline, diesel, and oil.
• Maintaining and planting sod, trees, shrubs, and flowers
• Maintaining sand traps by monitoring sand depth, using proper mechanical and manual rake techniques, edging and trimming sand trap edges, weeding and removing grass, debris and water, etc.
• Hand watering fairways, tees, rough, and sod, as well as plant material
• Sod installation and repair work
• Seed bed preparation
• May assist in fertilization of greens, tees fairways and roughs.
• The ability to install irrigation and drainage systems.
• Practices safe workplace procedures and awareness.

Minimum Qualifications for Sports Turf Technician

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training.
• Must have a valid drivers license

Other Qualifications

• Applicants must have reliable attendance (must be able to work weekends and holidays.)
• Applicants must have a strong attention to detail.
• Applicants must be able to perform routine detailed tasks without supervision.
• Applicants will need to meet all physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to: walking, kneeling, crouching, and the ability to manually move or lift up to 50 pounds.

Summary

As a Sports Turf Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and care of athletic fields and recreational turf areas. Reporting to the Grounds Manager, your role will involve utilizing core skills in lawn care, landscaping, and irrigation to ensure optimal turf health and appearance. Your mechanical knowledge will be essential for operating equipment and performing repairs. Additionally, relevant skills in groundskeeping and tree care will enhance the overall quality of our outdoor facilities. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 50 per week
