What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lawn Care Technician position at Yonder Mountain Conservation Co.?
Our company is looking for a qualified individual to fill our lawn care technician role. As a lawn care professional you will be responsible for servicing residential lawns and commercial properties, while also providing customer service at times and assisting with upkeep of landscape beds and plants at several properties.
Compensation based on experience starting at $17.75. Ideally, the applicant has had experience working in the field of lawncare (landscape experience is a plus as well) which would include chemical spraying and mixing, fertilization, use of fertilizer and spray equipment, and proper utilization of safety equipment and standards. Education is preferred (2-year or 4-year degree in relevant field) but not necessary.
PA Pesticide License is not required upon hiring, but will be needed as you continue working. We will cover all costs and fees for it, you will just have to take the test and take classes.
Responsibilities include:
- Applying Fertilizer and Chemicals to treat weeds, diseases and insect damage in lawns
- Properly mixing chemicals and understanding basic calibration while maintaining a safe work space
- Being able to plan out efficient travel routes for each day
- Providing upkeep and maintenance of landscape beds at certain properties
- Identifying turf problems and making recommendations to the company or possibly customers

This job consists of: constructing new landscape beds, planting trees & shrubs, laying pavers, building retaining walls, mowing, weeding, pruning, fence construction, etc.

The lawn maintenance season typically starts for us in late March (but this is dependent on weather), and goes through November/December (weather permitting.) We usually perform snow removal operations at some point in December through March.
The day typically begins for us at 7:30am, and ends near 4:00 pm. An average day during the busy time of year might be 8 hours. In the field of landscaping/lawncare, flexibility is key. There are times of the year that are busier than others, so willingness & availability to work overtime, weekends (if necessary) & longer days, is required. We rarely work weekends, but sometimes, to make up for lost days due to rain, or to catch up on jobs, is necessary. There will be days throughout the year where lawn care is not needed or is not possible due to weather and you may be asked to go with a different landscaping crew to help out during those days
