We are seeking full time laboratory technicians and chemists to drive continued growth in our Stratford, CT laboratory. Successful candidates will primarily be responsible for daily production by assisting in the preparation and analysis of environmental samples for water and soil.

Successful candidates will be responsible for various laboratory testing of environmental soil and water samples, including extractions, titrations, ICP analysis, and viscosity testing. These individuals will be responsible for following all safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a satisfactory production level. Experience performing organic extraction sample prep is a plus!

Key Responsibilities: Upon completion of training, successful completion of an Initial Demonstration of Capability, and annual Continuing Demonstrations of Capability, responsibilities will include:

  • Performing laboratory tests as outlined by the SOPs.
  • Performing all scheduled calibrations, standardization and SPC tests.
  • Routine maintenance of testing instrumentation.
  • Properly completing all paperwork used to track tests and their validity.
  • Loading data for tests performed.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe work area.
  • Accurately recording personal production and meeting production requirements.
  • Routing samples for additional testing as outlined by SOPs.
  • Storing and disposing of samples properly.
  • Participation in the Quality Program including, but not limited to, Corrective and Preventative Actions.
  • Complying with local and corporate quality assurance policies, as well as ISO 17025 lab accreditation requirements.
  • Comply with all Quality Assurance Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Chemical Hygiene Plan, and all Heath and Safety protocols.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time, as required by laboratory management.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • Understanding of chemistry, solutions and solvents.
  • Working knowledge of good laboratory practice.
  • Comfortable in a high-paced production environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or physical sciences.
  • Experience in a production analytical testing laboratory setting.
  • Understanding of chemistry, solutions and solvents.
  • Proficient in data processing and analysis with GCMS, GC, HPLC, and/or extraction procedures and EPA methodologies.
  • “Hands on” experience with any GC-FID, GC-ECD, or GC/MS instrumentation, or Automated Solid Phase Extraction, or Ion Chromatograph, or Purge & Trap autosamplers and concentrators.
  • Strong industry specific computer skills including LIMS, preferrably Promuim Element.
  • Understanding of the principles and processes of the laboratory’s quality system.
  • Possession of good organizational skills; detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Possession of excellent problem-solving capabilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working.
  • The ability to speak and hear clearly while communicating with staff & management.
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment and handle glassware.
  • Average vision and ability to see, to read reports and operate equipment.
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odors.
