York Building Products, a division of the Stewart Companies, is looking for a self-motivated and highly adaptable team member to join our Finance team in the position of Accounts Payable Specialist. The ideal candidate will have experience handling accounts payable in a multi-company environment with strong attention to detail and efficient time management skills. He/she will also be an effective communicator when dealing with internal team members as well as our vendors, suppliers and other partners.
Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist follows established control procedures for handling vendor/supplier invoices and processes, tracks and records payments in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. He/she will have a daily and ongoing impact on financial transactions and will ensure we remain on good terms with our external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the company in optimizing its financial transactions and systems.
- Strengthens and grows relationships with vendors and suppliers through timely payments.
- Assists in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process.
- Exercises integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting.
- Complies with federal and local financial regulations – such as knowledge of sales tax rules.
- Reviews invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment.
- Performs 3-way matching of invoices, receipts and purchase orders.
- Accurately enters invoices.
- Processes payment runs when approved.
- Works with vendors/suppliers to resolve discrepancies.
- Works with other departments to resolve purchase order issues.
- Research aged receipts not invoiced.
- Reviews vendor statements for accuracy and completeness.
- Assists Accountants as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a multi-company environment.
- Must have proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- Must have effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Must possess a strong team-oriented mindset.
- Must be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and a fast-paced work environment.
