DESCRIPTION:
The Area Coordinator is responsible for managing all functions of a residential complex of approximately 600 -1200 students and supervising a staff of undergraduate Resident Assistants (9-18), and undergraduate Community Assistants(s). The Area Coordinator oversees complex programs, serves in the on-call rotation, hears student conduct cases, conducts weekly staff and supervisory meetings, responds to emergencies, and serves as a liaison between the Residence Life Office, Campus Operations (including Campus Safety), the Student Life Office, and other administrative areas as occasional nights and weekends are required for departmental functions and responsibilities. This position lives in college provided housing (live in).

- Oversee the primary functions of maintaining the residential facility including openings, closings, room changes, maintenance requests, and facilities requests in collaboration with appropriate offices.
- Supervise staff of Resident Assistants (9-18), and Community Assistant(s).
- Coordinate and implement programming within complex and campus community.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings and one on one supervisory meetings.
- Adjudicate student conduct cases, in conjunction with Assistant Director of Residence Life for Student Conduct.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of student staff recruitment, selection, placement, and training.
- Serve in the on-call rotation for 2600 campus residents.
- Respond to student issues, emergencies, crisis within residential facilities, and make appropriate referrals.
- Assist in housing assignment process.
- Assist with summer housing operation and supervision of summer student staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Residence Life, Dean of Student Life, or other designee.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 1-2 yrs. experience in Residence Life or Student Leadership strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a collegiate setting with students, faculty, administrators, and staff.
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple departmental programs and services concurrently.
- Effective communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
