DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for proactively developing, implementing, managing and evaluating a comprehensive operational safety program to help assure a safe work environment and compliance with relevant legislation. The program includes improving operations and meet departmental objectives, conduct inspections, trainings, and enforcement of applicable Federal, State, County, and Municipal laws and codes, a member of the employee safety committee, review and advise contractor safety plans, mitigating campus hazards, and create a safety plan to ensure a healthy and productive work environment.

- Proactively identifies and propose solutions to meet compliance of Federal, State, County, and Municipal laws and codes. 25 %
- Review and approve all safety and compliance related documentation such as bloodborne pathogens, confined space, electrical safety, fall protection, fire safety, hazard communication, hazwopper, lockout tag out, noise exposure, personal protective equipment, respiratory training, slips, trips, and falls, etc. 15 %
- Ensures employees are properly trained on mandatory items required by York College. 10 %
- Educate employees on how to remain healthy and productive at work. 10 %
- Coordination between applicable parties to complete projects, objectives, or trainings. 15 %
- Maintain a positive attitude and quality customer service. 5%
- Ensures a safe working environment for faculty, students, and visitors by mitigating hazards. 5%
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes, including but not limited to worker’s compensation injuries. 5%
- Conduct and oversee inspections and audits of the department and employee safety committee. 5%
- Review and advise on contractor safety plans. 2.5%

- Complete other duties as assigned. 1%
- Associate’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Safety and Health.
- 5-7 years of applicable experience in work place safety and OSHA reporting.
- OSHA 30 Hour Certificate.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy and database management experience.
- Working knowledge of safe procedures (lockout/tagout, fall protection, etc.)
- Excellent time management abilities and organization skills.
- Open to attend educational classes or trainings as needed.
