DESCRIPTION:
24 hours per week, 8 hour shift, Saturday and Sunday required with a flexible 3rd day. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Director of Facility Services, the PT maintenance technician is responsible for performing general maintenance and utility tasks of various types to care for and maintain all College buildings and related facilities. Will need to promptly respond to daily service requests while interacting and communicating with customers and staff in a professional manner.
Typical hours for this position are based on the position and vary based on shift. Individual must be willing to work, evenings/weekends, and be available for emergencies and special events as needed. They are also considered part of the weather and emergency staff and may need to respond to emergency issues outside normal times.

- When responding to workorders or emergencies individual must be able to diagnose and repair problems that may pertain to electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment. 30%
- Preform general maintenance functions including but not limited to carpentry, new construction, refurbishing, repairing furniture and painting. 25%
- Have basic knowledge of roof and masonry repairs. 5%
- Completes work orders assigned through the TDX system. Assists in maintaining and entering accurate data into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) that are related to work status, pertinent details, costs (labor/materials), dates, time, invoices, images, actions performed to correct the issue, etc.5%
- Maintains communication with main office and supervisor 2%
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, schematics, and diagrams as needed. 2%
- Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for various operations. 5%
- Operates and keeps in good working order a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, and related equipment. This includes the campus vehicle assigned to. 5%
- Coordinates with other team members, as required, to ensure multi-trade projects are completed efficiently and completely. 4%
- Maintains a professional appearance. 2%
- Maintains a positive customer service orientation and attitude. 2%
- Assists within other areas of maintenance and Facility Services. 4%
- Assists in emergency response events including snow removal operations. 6%

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in building maintenance or related trade.
- Basic Microsoft Office Suite and Gmail.
- Must have the ability to follow both verbal and written directions in English; the ability to interact with students, faculty, administration, and staff in a professional and positive manner, as well as the ability to read and understand National Fire Protection Association and OSHA guidelines, such as Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment safety data plates, fuel/chemical flash points, etc.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach, and climb ladders.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and in elevated spaces (e.g., scaffold, bucket-truck platform, ladders, high-reach lifts).
- Ability in electrical, plumbing and general facilities repairs.
- Ability to work with computer systems.
- Must be willing to work overtime to accomplish the outcome, if needed.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Required to report and remain on campus in response to emergencies and weather events even when normal business operations are canceled or suspended.
- May be required to work weekends and holidays to support weekend operations or special events.
- Maximum lifting of 75 pounds independently. Frequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds, employees must get help if lifting over 75 pounds. Occasionally pulling and pushing up to 75 pounds of force.
