Position Summary
The BFA in Graphic Design program seeks a qualified adjunct professor to teach a morning section of GRD247, The Digital Image. A requirement for all Graphic Design majors, this on-campus studio course requires the ability to teach students with prior coursework in design and digital technology, to explore the creation and manipulation of digital photographic imagery. Students will learn the principles of capturing quality digital images, as well as how to prepare files for mass reproduction beyond the photographic print. Areas of file preparation for offset lithography, screen-printing, on-demand printing, presentation graphics, and web and motion graphics are discussed. Through hands-on assignments in the field and the studio, students will become better able to identify work that can be successfully reproduced in a variety of visual venues. This project-based course consists of lectures, demonstrations, studio work, and critique.
Other duties include holding office hours and communicating with department faculty.
Essential Functions
- Course Development and Delivery :
Develop, deliver, and continuously update syllabi and course materials for the course.
Ensure course materials cover explore the creation and manipulation of digital photographic imagery. Students will learn the principles of capturing quality digital images, as well as how to prepare files for mass reproduction beyond the photographic print.
Create a classroom environment conducive to active learning and individual growth.
Maintain the syllabi and course schedule on Canvas, ensuring all materials and updates are accessible to students.
Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable participating and expressing themselves.
Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and projects.
Offer additional support and guidance to students needing extra help.
Prepare and administer assessments in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to help students improve their skills.
Experience and Education Required
An MFA in Photography, Fine Arts or Graphic Design, or a related field preferred, BFA or BA in related field required.
Teaching experience at the college level is highly preferred.
Professional experience in the field of photography is desirable.

A record of published work or contributions to the field of photography.
