About our opportunity
We are excited to hire a full-time, non-exempt Parks Maintenance Technician to join our Parks and Recreation Department, Catawba Bend Preserve. In this position you will perform multiple skilled trades to include landscaping, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and other technical trades associated in the repair and maintenance of multiple County owned Parks and Recreation facilities.
Projected Hiring Range: $18.32 - $21.98 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs general grounds maintenance work, including but not limited to installing landscape materials, mowing grass, bush-hogging, planting, tree and shrub maintenance, removing debris.
- Performs general maintenance of Park facilities; including, but not limited to HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, carpentry work, painting and preventive maintenance.
- Performs routine custodial work, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, removing trash, stocking restroom supplies.
- Prepares Parks for community or special events, including set-up, tear down, and support during the event. May work afterhours and weekends.
- Opens and closes Park entrances as needed.
- Performs multiple levels of construction that includes carpentry work, masonry, drywall, painting.
- Performs related work as assigned.
About you
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in a skilled or unskilled trade, construction, facility maintenance or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Certification in Aerial Boom lift (man lift) preferred.
- Forklift Certification preferred.
