Responsibilities and Duties
The primary role of the Residential Technician is to ensure health, safety, and quality care for all residents; to appropriately handle emergency and crisis situations, utilizing the clinical team or the on call members and to ensure the adherence of rules, regulations, and agency policy and procedures. This position reports to Emergency Service Supervisor.
Individuals in this position will be responsible for oversight of daily activities, assisting in daily scheduling, and providing some direct treatment services to residents. Part time employees do accrue PTO and Holiday time on scheduled worked days.
DUTIES:
· Ensure safety of yourself, the residents, and the facility
· Provide supportive services as necessary, including active listening, supporting someone who is struggling, engaging positively, acting as a role model
· Complete intakes and orientating of clients to the program, including all necessary paper work for admission, based on supervisor’s approval
· Conduct at least hourly walk through of entire rehabilitation wing, noting the location of each individual
· Conduct both routine and random drug/alcohol testing as directed by supervisor
· Document on each resident, per shift, in shift log book
· Engage residents in upkeep and cleaning of facility, monitoring and modeling appropriate cleaning techniques
· Monitor scheduled visitation times (prior approval of visitors is required)
· Conduct routine and random searching of facility, personal areas, and personal possessions
· Presents and performs in a professional manner at all times with clients, staff and the public
· Monitor client self-administration of medications
· Ensure the client rights are always protected
· Work as a team player with all staff, utilize supervision for conflict resolution if necessary
· Maintain accurate, complete and up to date client files in accordance to licensing standards
· Conduct one fire drill each month on their shift, document on appropriate form and in client files
· all other related duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/HAZARDS:
· This position requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, as well as lifting boxes and manipulation of equipment. It requires contact with clients/residents, volunteers, agency staff, and the public.
· This position may result in exposure to biomedical hazards (i.e. infectious disease and body waste/discharge) and contact with clients/residents who may at times in the course of their recovery become agitated and/or physically aggressive toward staff and others.
· This position will require transportation of residents in both personally owned and Agency owned vehicles

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum of high school diploma/GED
· Previous experience working in residential treatment preferred
· basic clerical skills
· CPR/first aid certified
