Description
Under general supervision, performs sports official duties in the Parks and Recreation Division. Work involves inspecting playing areas and equipment for safety. Work also involves interaction with volunteer coaches and program participants regularly. Employee is responsible for explaining rules and expectations to volunteer coaches, program participants, and participant’s guardians. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with program participants, employees and volunteers.
Games begin Saturday, March 22, 2025. Officials needed for 6U and 8U.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school, preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Some sports playing and/or officiating experience is preferred.
Supplemental Information
Officiates games in such sports as softball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball, as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
Interacts with program participants and the general public to present a positive image for the division.
Physical Demands
Must be physically able to operate a variety of recreation equipment. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in those for medium work. Must be able to stand/run continuously for extended periods of time and in various weather conditions.
