What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mail/Distribution Clerk (Part-time) position at York County?
Distributes large quantities of incoming, outgoing, and inter-office mail for the County. Receives, sorts, and delivers incoming mail and processes out-going mail. Responsible for performing routine maintenance and performing minor repairs on equipment and machinery.
In addition, assists with document inventory management for divisions in Financial and Management Services. Must be detail oriented, able to maintain a fast-paced delivery schedule and follow instructions. Position is physically demanding requiring long periods of standing, the ability to walk approximately 5 miles per day in all types of weather, and lifting up to 30 pound crates numerous times throughout the day. Delivery route involves driving up to 50 miles each day.
Hours of work are generally between the hours of 8:15am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Days and hours may vary with holidays and to cover unexpected sick leave, vacations, and occasional other duties.Graduation from high school, and 1-2 years experience in mail room work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
DMV records check and credit check will be conducted prior to employment.Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated machines which include mailing machines, allocator, scales, facsimile machines, decollator, computers, typewriters, etc. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to bend and lift packages weighing up to 30 pounds. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work.
