What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tennis/Pickleball Program Staff position at York County?
Positions available with York County Parks and Recreation’s Tennis Program. Program and operations begin March 1st through November, Monday – Friday and on Saturdays May 1 - October 1. We have some flexibility in start and end date of employment based on increased need during the summer months. Ideal for adults looking for additional income and students 16 years of age or older. Must be friendly, cooperative and flexible. There will be training for all positions. Hourly rate depends on job and experience.
TENNIS/PICKLEBALL ATTENDANTS ($12.00 - $13.00 per hour depending on experience)
Responsible for interacting with patrons and customers of the tennis program at Back Creek Park, in addition to solving routine on-site problems that may occur. Responsible for providing program information, accepting registrations and payments, reserving tennis courts and kayaks and monitoring their usage. In charge of daily tennis/pickleball court set-up and cleanup, provides appropriate equipment to participant at lessons/leagues, and enforces rules and regulations of the park and tennis/pickleball courts. At Back Creek Park, this position is also responsible for kayak rentals.
TENNIS/PICKLEBALL INSTRUCTORS ($15.00 - $21.00 per hour depending on experience)
Responsible for coordinating, planning and teaching tennis/pickleball lessons to program participants. Duties involve instructing program participants in the use of equipment, body movement, and rules and regulations of the game of attendance. Provides basic tennis/pickleball instruction (i.e. forehand and backhand swing, stroke development, scoring, rules, etiquette and shot placement) to adults and/or children in a group setting and one-on-one. Observes practices, detects and corrects mistakes and maintains attendance records. Instructors must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with program participants, parents, employees, volunteers, and the general public.Requires an acceptable criminal background check which is conducted prior to employment. TENNIS ATTENDANTS - Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines which include cash registers, adding machines, ball machines, edger, blowers, vacuums, string trimmers, rakes, hoes, shovels, etc. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, such as kayaks. The position is rated for Medium Work.
TENNIS INSTRUCTORS - Must be physically able to operate a variety of athletic equipment and machinery including ball machine, tennis racket, ball hopper, ball basket, etc. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. The job is rated for Medium Work. Must be able to move continuously for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.
