ABOUT THE ROLE
The Data Scientist role specializes in extracting value from data in all forms and is an important contributor to our highly regarded professional data team. In this role, you'll identify, shape and lead cutting-edge analytics projects, thoughtfully advance AI/GenAI opportunities, and create data products to optimize a variety of service delivery and program planning functions. You'll work with diverse datasets across economic development, health, transportation, and more.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead advanced analytics projects from conception to implementation
- Develop AI and machine learning solutions for complex municipal challenges
- Create intuitive data visualizations and tools for non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-informed decision-making
- Apply spatial analysis and GIS skills to solve location-based problems
- Respect and promote core principles of data privacy and ethics.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
A data scientist with strong spatial/GIS skills, curiosity, enthusiasm, and a customer service focus. You love data, enjoy variety, and are resourceful. You share knowledge freely, understand data bias, privacy, and security, and excel at simplifying complex concepts. You aim to lead, code well, document your work, and respect diverse perspectives.
WHAT GETS YOU CONSIDERED
- Master's degree in Data Science, Analytics, or related field
- 3 years of hands-on analytics experience
- Expertise in R, Python, SQL, GIS, and data visualization tools
- Strong background in statistical analysis and machine learning
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
