ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is responsible for contributing to assessing, developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating leadership and professional development initiatives, programs, policies, processes, and practices; providing learning and development consulting to address the performance/skill development needs of individuals, teams and departments; and ensuring that program practices support strategic objectives, and are consistent with relevant legislation, regulations and policies. Works closely with internal teams and collaborates with various stakeholders to deliver programs that fit, fostering individual development, and driving leadership excellence.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Conducts needs analysis, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates learning opportunities/solutions for management and staff utilizing adult learning principles.
- Conducts research and proposes learning solutions based on foundational and evolving best practices.
- Reviews and evaluates existing internal and external learning solutions on a regular basis, ensuring current research, information and references are utilized, making recommendations for changes as appropriate.
- Contributes to the design, development and implementation of engaging and effective corporate learning solutions and programs that support corporate strategic priorities and the 70:20:10 model.
- Evaluates and ensures a robust library of Corporate curriculum; e-learning, interactive (lecture, group discussion, demonstration, role play, case study) and independent training resources, consistently seeking opportunities to automate and streamline implementation of learning strategies through a variety of media.
- Ensures current evaluative methods are being utilized and results analysed to ensure quality and accuracy and are aligned with all learning and development processes and standards.
- Assesses root cause to team challenges and performance gaps and recommends appropriate solutions to the Manager; facilitates customized learning solutions for client groups, as needed.
- Leads the internal and external training programs (instructor-led and online), including design, development, delivery, and implementation of the programs.
- Facilitates and delivers training and learning programs across the leadership development content spectrum.
- Delivers learning, including train-the trainer events, through instructor led training, virtual instructor led training, conference style learning, small coaching interventions.
- Assists in the research and development of the learning and development curriculum and makes recommendations as to the quality and relevance of new programs and courses.
- Supports the Manager in the planning and designing of new corporate learning solutions and programs, including researching materials/resources, creating training materials and PowerPoint presentations, and facilitating sessions and meetings, and evaluates accordingly.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Adult Education or Human Resources or approved equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in a learning-related discipline.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in adult facilitation, performance consulting, program assessment, design, delivery, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in applying adult learning principles and practices, instructional design, needs analysis, delivery, measurement, and evaluative methods.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of learning mediums including electronic presentation technologies, integrated multimedia and on-line learning technologies, video conferencing and in-house classroom design.
- Certified Training and Development Professional certification an asset.
- Understanding of management theory and practice to advise and assist management staff.
- Excellent training, facilitation, presentation, communication, research and writing skills.
- Proficient in Learning Management Systems (LMS), and web-based evaluation tools.
- Knowledge of Instructional Design tools and methodology i.e. Articulate, FrameMaker, Flash and Captivate.
