Assistant Coordinator Alternative School
Qualifications:
- South Carolina certification as required for the position or eligible for appropriate certification
- Master’s Degree Minimum of five years experience as teacher preferred
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
Reports To: Coordinator of Alternative Program
Job Goal
To maintain overall site operations; receiving, distributing and communicating information to enforce the policies of the technology center, district and state; maintaining safety of technology center environment; coordinating technology center activities; communicating information to staff; and addressing situations, problems and/or conflicts that could negatively impact the technology center.
Performance Functions
- Assists the Coordinator and other personnel in the administration of the school to support them in the completion of their work activities.
- Assists the Coordinator by conducting meetings (e.g., curriculum, safety, site advisory, special district committees) for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve alternative school, district and/or state objectives.
- Assists with alternative school administrative functions (e.g., evaluation, scheduling, discipline, faculty/staff support, parent communication/conferences, staffing) to ensure safe and efficient school operations are maintained within district guidelines.
- Creates a wide variety of materials (e.g., quantity reports, student activities, correspondence) to document activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information to the Coordinator, staff when appropriate, parents, and others.
- Delegates responsibilities for a variety of administrative functions to other personnel to ensure workload management efficiency.
- Evaluates assigned personnel (e.g., instructional and non-instructional) as requested by the Coordinator to ensure that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
- Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
- Facilitates the development, communication implementation and evaluation of quality learning to enhance excellence, equality and equity for staff and students.
- Represents the alternative school within community forums (e.g., meetings to include SIP, IEP, Manifestation Hearings, Expulsion hearings) for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to alternative school environment.
- Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
- Supervises school personnel to monitor performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the alternative school program.

Terms of Employment:
210 days; salary based off teacher scale

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
