Teaching Expectations:
Ability to teach the breadth of the high school English curriculum, including grades 8-12.
Design rich, student-centered curricula, including creative, rigorous projects and assessments.
Choose multicultural literature that serves as “windows, mirrors, and sliding doors” for a diverse
student body (~Rudine Sims Bishop).
Conduct a process-based approach to writing and teach multiple modes of writing.
Routinely reflect on curricula and pedagogy, and participate in cycles of feedback.
Use a variety of pedagogical approaches.
Develop a classroom culture that is inclusive and supportive of all students.
Effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning.
Commit to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of innovative, research-informed teaching practices.
Assist with the school’s literary magazine, newspaper, and/or other student ventures related to the humanities and arts.
Community Expectations:
Contribute as an engaged, collaborative community member.
Serve as an advisor to approximately 10 students.
Serve on ad hoc committees, as needed.
Participate in community events including but not limited to several evening or weekend admission events.
Carry out other duties as assigned.
Salary : $75,000 - $95,000
