York Space Systems is looking for a Test Automation Manager. The ideal candidate will act as an expert on all test software aspects of space hardware, supporting / managing junior engineers and working across engineering teams to lead and coordinate best practices in test : planning, coordinating, executing, and troubleshooting test campaigns. The ideal candidate will have extensive prior experience in the space sector, with an emphasis on small satellites and small satellite components.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with systems engineering and program management to define verification strategies and timelines.
• Develop, execute, and manage complex test plans for mission-specific verification.
• Plan, design, develop, and execute both manual and automated tests cases, including documentation and troubleshooting.
• Identify and develop automation to improve production line, including ground support equipment, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and software-in-the-loop testing.
• Maintain and improve test software architecture, style guidelines, and review processes.
• Work in conjunction with flight software and ground software to grow simulation testing and CI / CD pipelines across the company and programs.
• Identify testing methods and test fixturing for risk mitigation, prototype development and requirement verification.
• Plan and perform environmental qualification and testing of hardware, including functional testing, vibration testing, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, deployments, and other qualification tests.
• Communicate and collaborate with various areas of the business, such as flight software, ground software, product and technical leadership, and program managers.
• Interface with the customer by negotiating test requirements and methods, jointly developing plans, and communicating and reporting on test progress.
• Represent test engineering at major program milestones and act as expert reviewer at Test Readiness Reviews.
• Update and identify key performance indicators for the test automation team.
• Plan and support regression testing activities during test campaigns and on-orbit support.
• Guide / mentor younger engineers in the test engineering process.
• Perform management duties including regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations, coaching / mentorship, hiring, training, etc.
