Job Responsibilities
York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.
The Assistant Director - Child Development Center performs the following functions : performs the following functions :
- Provides quality instruction, and maintains effective learning environment for children in assigned age groups / classrooms. Reviews plans and provides feedback to teachers in the implementation of established program protocols. Reviews lesson plans based on NAEYC guiding principles and objectives for each age group. Assists in selection of resource materials, textbooks, and designs materials for special needs. Provides on-going guidance in evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of children and ensure appropriate documentation of each child's growth and development. Supports Director in all aspects of DSS licensure, NAEYC accreditation, and ABC certification, to ensure appropriate documentation and implementation of standards.
- Assists in providing guidance for children in need or in conflict either emotionally or academically. Confers with parents on regular basis or in times of special need. Promotes family involvement. Cooperates with Director in referring families to resources and / or utilizing community resources, as applicable. Supports parent conferences on children's school adjustment, classroom behavior, learning styles, developmental levels and skills. Assists children in becoming aware of their roles as integral members of a group. Supports daily health checks; complies with mandate to report suspicions of neglect and / or abuse.
- Supervises and provides guidance to teachers and Early Care and Education program candidates. Provides feedback and assists in developing and completing performance evaluation for teachers. Works with Early Care and Education candidates, participates in special activities that promotes the Center or informs the community about the Center.
- Communicates and stays informed about children's progress and learning reports. Works within Center's budget and places orders as appropriate. Utilizes ProCare for accounting purposes.
- Assists with non-routine activities for children with special needs. Performs other duties as required including routine housekeeping tasks.
